About The Position
Job Title : Diabetes Foot Care Specialist RN
Profession : Nursing
Specialty : Certified Diabetic Educator, Registered Nurse
Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : Days, no weekends
Hours per Shift : 20
Experience : Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN or RD, with emphasis on diabetes care and / or chronic disease management preferred
License : Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required
Certifications : Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
Must-Have : Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE / CDCES) preferred
Description :
The Diabetes Foot Care Specialist RN delivers comprehensive foot care services that emphasize prevention, early detection, and patient education.
Responsibilities include conducting foot assessments, providing routine treatments, evaluating footwear, and coordinating care when further medical attention is needed.
Key responsibilities include conducting initial and annual foot assessments, including diabetes history and medication review.
Examine foot structure, circulation, skin, and nails and document findings.
Provide routine foot care such as nail trimming and filing, reduction of thick nails, calluses, corns, and ingrown nail portions.
Inspect footwear for safety and fit.
Refer patients to medical providers as needed.
Educate patients on foot care, prevention, and available resources.
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Prior teaching experience preferred.
