Job Description
Primary Responsibilities :
- Training of lab personnel, daily operations of the lab, incoming sample processing, maintaining calibration of equipment
- Ensuring health and safety processes and procedures are followed, maintenance of a safe, ergonomically sound, professional work environment.
Profile of the position (Responsibilities) :
Responsible for managing daily operations of the laboratoryOversee safety, ergonomics, maintenance, and cleanliness of department (including upgrades, repairs, etc.)Oversee implementation of SOPs for incoming sample processing in accordance with company policyOversee / Ensure all processed documentation is complete and reviewed as requiredEnsure sample workflow from logistics meets the needs of the departmentMonitor special handling of identified clientsMust be able to establish a positive work environment that actively encourages and supports employee involvementIdentify, develop and implement process improvement plans. Have regularly scheduled staff meetings to ensure staff understands the expectations of company, clients and general safety in lab operationsTrack / enter time / attendance of employeesPrepare month-end reportsInvestigates / resolves and responds to client complaintsResponsible to ensure company policies are followedResponsible for training and development of staffMonitor on-going performance of employees; provide corrective action and counseling as requiredEffectively work with internal departments to resolve problems. Must have interpersonal skills to gain cooperation with other departments, and foster continuous improvementsStrong written and spoken English skills, other languages will be an advantagePersuasive, diplomatic, but always to the point and a strong ability to sell a conceptHands-on, open-minded, proactive team playerResponsible for on time delivery of test reports free of errors and meet customer expectations. Education and Experience :
Bachelor Degree in Science, with emphasis in chemistry or other related field.Must have 3-5 years in a management and / or supervisory role.Prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred.Must have prior experience with instrumentation and calibrations.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Must be able to work with all chemicals, petrochemicals and petroleum products.Excellent communication, writing, presenting and analytical skills.Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Willingness and ability to work with minimal supervision and to effectively prioritize and schedule workload to meet requirements and deadlines.Ability to work effectively under pressureTakes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues; quickly and efficiently completes tasks.Ability to build and lead an effective team and foster a sense of collaboration to achieve goals.Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources into solutionsExcellent knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).Additional Information
