Pressroom Material Handler
The Pressroom Material Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently handling materials such as steel coils, progressive dies, and scrap bins to support pressroom operations. This role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Load, unload, and move materials (steel coils, dies, scrap hoppers) as directed.
- Receive and record steel coils in Steel Viking within 24 hours of receipt; deliver paperwork to AP and Quality.
- Prepare steel coils using FIFO principles based on plant schedule.
- Assist with press setup and job completion, including die loading / unloading.
- Manage coil returns and scrap bin changes promptly to minimize downtime.
- Schedule scrap hopper pickups and maintain clean, organized work area (5S standards).
- Follow all safety regulations and use required PPE.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and quality personnel.
- Support training of new employees as experience grows.
Job Requirements :
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Prior experience operating tow motors (forklifts).Crane experience desirable.Good communication, math, and reading skills.Basic mechanical aptitude.Positive, team-oriented attitude and reliable attendance.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.Frequent bending, standing, and repetitive motion.Exposure to noise from operational stamping presses.Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent required.1 2 years of material handling or manufacturing experience preferred.Forklift certification required; crane experience a plus.Work Schedule :
40 50 hours per week (typical).
