Job Responsibilities
Design, program, and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal
Build PLC logic from scratch (Ladder, ST, FBD)
Develop and configure Red Lion HMI (Crimson) and Siemens HMI interfaces
Integrate industrial sensors (pressure, level, temperature, switches, transducers)
Design new control panel systems and modify existing ones in AutoCAD
Travel domestically for commissioning (Planned)
Provide on-call support (24 / 7, calls are infrequent)
Perform start-up, troubleshooting, and testing on maritime equipment
Ensure systems meet ABS and USCG requirements
Report directly to the Engineering Manager
Lead and mentor entry level engineers
Work independently with minimal oversight
Support innovation in new maritime alarm and automation systems
Minimal Requirements
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
3+ years of real-world automation experience
Deep experience with Siemens PLCs (S7-series) and TIA Portal
Strong proficiency in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block
Experience in designing control panels in AutoCAD
Hands-on experience with Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and CANbus J1939
Ability to design, program, integrate, and troubleshoot a system end-to-end
Must be able to work independently and provide leadership to junior team members
Willing to travel occasionally to assist with equipment commissioning
Some experience working with marine class society requirements such as ABS or USCG is a plus!
