Job description

Security Supervisor

Security Supervisor must show good judgement and common sense, be able to follow directions and directives from Director of Operations, accurately recount situations which they witnessed, and follow company policy and guidelines. Supervisor should have a professional appearance and be able to interact with the public. Supervisor must have excellent verbal and written abilities to document violations or suspicious behavior. Supervisor must be able to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other dangerous incidents. Patrol and inspect property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activity. Monitor entrances and exits of hotel and adjacent office complexes, greet and assist guests, visitors, and tenants as needed. Lock and unlock doors including manual overhead garage doors and large access gates as required. Observe and report violations of hotel policy and law on the property, and deter criminal activity or other problems through visual presence and intervention.

Essential job functions include supporting the Crowne Plaza hallmarks and standards, acting as ranking supervisor in absence of director, performing all duties as patrol or supervisor, following up on investigation of claims of loss, incidents, or injury / illness, entering dead bolted or secured rooms when necessary, assigning activities of patrol officers, performing key audits in Housekeeping, performing fire safety inspections and classes and responding to emergency situations, assisting in scheduling work, approving vacation time, and managing overtime. Other duties as assigned.

Competencies include ability to give full attention to what others are saying, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to use logic and reasoning and follow directions and directives from supervisors, ability to accurately recount situations which were witnessed and follow company policy and guidelines, ability to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other dangerous incidents, and being detail oriented.

Education and experience preferred includes BS / BA degree in related discipline or equivalent experience, 5+ years of experience in security related field, supervisory lead role experience, certified in CPR and First aid, and certification in security.

Work environment involves interacting with employees, guests, and deliveries within a hotel setting. Physical demands include finger dexterity to operate office equipment, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking repetitive motion, hearing and visual acuity, and may occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

This is a full-time non-exempt position with expectation to work necessary business hours to ensure business needs are met during the operation of the Security Department. Supervisory responsibility of security patrol and entry guards. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
