AlfaTech is seeking a Senior Engineer for Building HVAC projects. This role will act as the Lead Project Engineer under the Department Heads supervision, providing a high level of technical leadership across a variety of small to large projects.
Base pay range
$105,000.00 / yr - $120,000.00 / yr

Job Summary
In this role, the Senior Engineer will act as the Lead Project Engineer under the Department Heads supervision, working on projects ranging from small to large and providing a very high level of technical leadership. The individual is self?motivated, solutions?oriented, organized, a critical thinker, team?focused, and capable of independent detailed work. They will represent the firm in all project interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other team members and may take on a project management role in small to medium projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and ensure that all designs are compliant with Building / Energy Codes, and LEED / WELL standards.
- Develop mechanical system designs for a wide variety of building types with a keen emphasis on value add, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Design mechanical and plumbing systems with various engineering software.
- Perform energy modeling, system sizing, load calculations, and design layouts.
- Participate in presentations to clients.
- Prepare project start?up documentation, notify marketing, and submit to accounting.
- Develop and achieve project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Schedule and track project milestones and deliverables; ensure adherence to contract.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Schedule and conduct internal kick?off meetings with all disciplines present.
- Ensure that ATCE quality assurance procedures are implemented during the design process (design criteria submission, basis of design narrative, design checklists, interdisciplinary coordination schedules, etc.).
- Review change orders and prepare project budgets.
- Prepare life cycle cost analysis studies.
- Conduct analyses to develop design options and recommendations.
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships; respond promptly to inquiries and initiate contact when needed or delays are imminent.
- Communicate directly with clients and, if required, act as the primary point of contact for AlfaTech.
- Ensure that the preparation of project drawings, specifications, and reports meet the project schedule and are consistent with client requirements and standards.
- Assign duties and schedules within the project team and instruct project team members.
- Check all technical work for accuracy within the discipline; review technical content with team leaders from each discipline involved in the project.
- Assist with establishing design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
- Coordinate, support, and communicate with colleagues across disciplines.
- Review product data submittals and review shop drawings for conformance to contract documents.
- Lead construction site observations, sustainability analyses, feasibility reports, and the basis of design reports.
- Attend and participate in design and construction project team meetings.
- Maintain positive client relations after the project is finished to ensure securing future work.
- Must exhibit technical competency and be able to design projects and direct / train / mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Perform submittal reviews and ensure timely responses to RFIs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate
Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in the design field.Exceptional management and supervisory skills.Detail-oriented and proactive; catches the error before it becomes an issue.Highly knowledgeable of codes, standards, and construction / engineering processes.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to multi-task and work in a fast?paced environment with multiple project deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis and compliance software tools.Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.Professional Engineer (PE) Certification, preferred.LEED Accreditation.Highly proficient in Revit, BIM 360.Strong working knowledge of Energy Pro, or eQuest.Highly proficient in Trace 700.Salary Range
This is a hybrid role. It is anticipated that the working days in the office will be done at our San Francisco, CA office. The expected salary range for candidates who will work in San Francisco is $105,000 - $120,000. The final offer to our new team member will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the length, breadth, and depth of experience within the job and the industry, education, etc. ATCE is a multi?state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
