On-Call Shift Supervisor – Youth Inpatient Unit (YIU)
Hiring Range : $24.94 – $30.55 per hour, with shift differentials up to $1.25 / hr.
Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a dedicated On-Call Inpatient Shift Supervisor to join our Youth Inpatient team. The role involves supervising and supporting Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to ensure smooth operation of our inpatient units.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing assessments of client risk and milieu acuity, collaborate with staff to de-escalate situations and use least restrictive interventions when needed.
- Collaborate with treatment teams, supervise physical interventions, ensure safety of clients and staff, lead post-incident debriefings.
- Monitor staffing levels per shift and arrange additional coverage based on client needs.
- Oversee intake and admission processes, ensuring documentation completion, policy compliance, and safety standards.
- Review treatment notes and coordinate follow-up on treatment plans.
- Supervise BHTs : training, coaching, performance evaluations, support during disciplinary processes.
- Conduct one-on-one supervision sessions with BHTs and document performance conversations.
- Support new BHTs through orientation, coaching, and onboarding.
- Participate in BHT hiring and interview processes in collaboration with unit leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or GED.Experience :Bachelor's degree with 1 year relevant experience (social service, mental health, or customer service) OR
Associate's degree with 2 years relevant experience (social service, mental health, or customer service) ORHigh school diploma with 3 years relevant experience (social service, mental health, or customer service).Licensure : Eligibility for Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.Preferred Qualifications
Job history managing direct reports.Experience in a behavioral health setting.Performance Requirements
Knowledge
Working knowledge of verbal de-escalation skills and agency-mandated trainings.Knowledge of unit policies and procedures; collaborate with Inpatient Director and Manager for updates.Skills
Effective relational skills with employees, clients, organizations, and the public.Excellent verbal and written communication.Proficiency in MS Word.Abilities
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.Worksite-Specific Requirements
Worksite #1 : Bremerton-Almira Campus. Requirements : Food Handler's Card, CPR Certification. Equipment : Standard office equipment (computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.).
Work Environment : Frequent mobility, standing, sitting, occasional use of physical restraints. Physical Requirements : Stand, sit, use hands, reach, lift up to 50 lbs, peripheral vision.
Key Performance Indicator : Process referrals within 3 hrs while maintaining unit workflows and management.
