Position Title : Facilities Manager
Reports To : Director of Finance and Operations
Classification : Full-Time, Exempt (not eligible for overtime)
Salary Range : $65,000 - $70,000
Location : Washington, D.C. (In-Person)
Position Overview :
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of the Washington Ballet's facilities. This role blends hands-on building work with strategic oversight of vendors, budgets, and capital projects. The Facilities Manager ensures that all spaces - including studios, locker rooms, and administrative offices - are safe, clean, functional, and supportive of the organization's artistic, educational, and community mission.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct routine inspections of all spaces to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
- Perform routine repairs and maintenance (studio and office floors, lighting, carpentry, plumbing, minor HVAC troubleshooting, painting, etc.).
- Coordinate facilities staff to maintain daily the cleanliness and presentation of three TWB owned and leased facilities in NW DC. Ensure Facilities staff are onsite during operating hours of the school and company.
- Support occasional cleaning a maintenance projects at the Studios at THEARC in SE DC, and at our warehouse space in Landover, Maryland.
- Support setup and breakdown for rehearsals, classes, performances, and events.
- Work with Operations team to manage relationships with vendors and contractors (HVAC, custodial, landscaping, security, etc.).
- Supervise full-time and part-time facilities staff.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, and fire / life safety regulations.
Qualifications :
Experience in facilities management, preferably in performing arts or educational institutions.Hands-on skills in general maintenance and ability to coordinate with contractors.Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Computer skills including creating documents and spreadsheets; experience with Microsoft Office preferred.Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support performances and events.Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.Equal Opportunity Statement
