Job Summary :
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists residents with daily living activities, including basic hygiene, health-related tasks such as taking vital signs and collecting specimens, and transporting residents to appointments. The CNA also assists the patient care team by performing designated patient care procedures.

Responsibilities :
- Assist residents with basic hygiene, including bathing, oral hygiene, and dressing.
- Perform health-related tasks such as taking and recording vital signs and collecting specimens.
- Assist in emergency situations.
- Transport residents to appointments.
- Perform range of motion exercises.
- Ambulate patients.
- Position patients and provide skin care.
- Distribute linen and change beds as needed.
- Assist with feeding and meal delivery.
- Assist with routine hygiene care, including toileting and incontinent care.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens.
- Obtain and record weights, vital signs, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, and I&O.
- Communicate patient status and report changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Perform incentive spirometry.
- Transport patients and prepare them for diagnostic tests.
- Assist rehab therapists.
- Set up pulse oximetry / oxygen for oxygen therapy.
- Prepare rooms and provide post-mortem care.
- Prepare for admission and discharge.
- Assist nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Perform oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Perform blood sugar finger sticks.
- Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Perform EKGs (if department-specific responsibility).
- Answer unit phones and direct calls.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems and document patient care.
- Perform selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinate equipment / supply needs and report equipment malfunctions.

High School Diploma or GED equivalentValid State Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificationBLS certificationTwo years of job-related experience working with people in a healthcare setting or group homePreferred Skills & Certifications :
