Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 27 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position in a Level II Trauma Center with floating to similar units and Cerner EMR experience required. Responsibilities Work in a large hospital setting with several specialized Med / Surg units, including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, Oncology, Clinical Decision, Orthopedics, and Urology Patient populations include general surgery, trauma, neuro, oncology, clinical decision, orthopedic, and urology cases Units range from 18 to 39 beds, with patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6 for RNs Responsibilities may include wound care, chest tubes, trach care, IV starts, medication administration and documentation, and telemetry monitoring RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours Shifts are 12 hours (7a-7p and 7p-7a) on a 4 week rotating schedule with every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month Floating is required to like units and certain ICU or ER tasks depending on hospital need No on-call required RNs are assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation but may float to similar units Support available from CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy and IV / VAT teams, hospitalist, and telemetry techs All new or returning travelers not at the facility in the last year will receive 24 hours of classroom and 24 hours of unit orientation Ceil blue or white scrubs are required Parking is available on the 2nd through 4th levels of the parking deck Must work at least one major and one minor holiday per hospital policy Specific blackout dates for time off apply First-time travelers are considered with proper experience and EMR background Requirements Active AL or compact RN license required Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg experience; at least 1 year trauma experience required for trauma / surgical units Current certifications in BLS and NIHSS are required Cerner or Epic EMR experience required Strong skills in wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration, and telemetry interpretation Former perm staff must wait at least 6 months before being considered as a traveler Applicants must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the facility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620254.
