Job Description
The Education and Training Specialist III supports the Tobacco Program within the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program by providing evidence-based smoking cessation interventions (including counseling and support) to tobacco-dependent individuals, based on their tobacco use history and current tobacco status.
Responsibilities
- Lead the ATTAC-IT Afternoon of Learning Program : collaborate with UF faculty planning committee from the five core health professions colleges to develop curriculum, maintain regular communication and planning meetings, and coordinate with instructional designers; manage all logistical aspects of the program (virtual webinars, content in Canvas, updated presentations and modules with current tobacco cessation research), and distribute program materials; manage student assignment coordination, lead training sessions for volunteers and facilitators, and perform post-event analysis and evaluation to guide continuous program enhancement.
- Manage the AHEC Recognition Program : administer for UF Health providers who refer patients to Tobacco Free Florida cessation services; create UF Health provider patient outcome reports to support engagement and expand referrals; support tobacco systems change efforts across UF Health hospitals and clinics by providing referral and brief intervention training for healthcare professionals; assist in delivering educational presentations to promote tobacco cessation referrals and public health initiatives; provide continuing education (CE / CME) opportunities for healthcare professionals to enhance knowledge and effectiveness in tobacco cessation and public health strategies.
- Build strong strategic partnerships : build and maintain partnerships with healthcare professionals, clinics, and the campus community to promote tobacco cessation services; conduct outreach (tabling events, campus marketing, social media); facilitate in-person and virtual workshops on tobacco dependence treatment with customized content for clinical departments, behavioral health providers, counseling centers, and student health services; serve as UF AHEC's representative in coalitions and working groups dedicated to tobacco control and health promotion; participate in marketing meetings and oversee quarterly marketing materials submission; lead strategic updates and continuous improvements to UF AHEC websites.
- Develop evidence-based training curricula for new initiatives : maintain and disseminate patient education resources and clinical practice guidelines; evaluate training effectiveness and report outcomes to guide continuous improvements; assist in instructing student medical lectures and external tobacco cessation facilitators; serve as backup Tobacco Treatment Specialist facilitator for the program.
- Data reporting : assist the Assistant Director in preparing quarterly data reports for submission to the Department of Health; oversee collection of faculty reports to meet contract requirements tied to interprofessional education initiatives and College of Medicine student training lectures; collaborate with UF faculty to integrate tobacco cessation education and referral strategies into the College of Medicine's Preceptorship Program; assess training needs and measure program effectiveness through surveys, interviews, and leadership input; provide data-informed recommendations to enhance outcomes.

Expected Salary : $60,000-$67,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred : The ideal candidate will possess :
Master's degree in Health Education and Behavior, Public Health, Nursing, or a closely related field.Experience in a relevant health discipline with a demonstrated interest in tobacco prevention and cessation initiatives.Experience in instructional roles, including facilitation of group sessions or educational programs.Strong communication abilities paired with proficient computer skills.Detail-oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships.Self-driven and collaborative team contributor.Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS).Special Instructions To Applicants
