Job Title : Camp - Group Leader

Salary Range : $15.00-$18.00 / Hourly

IMRF Position : No Manager Youth and Early Childhood

DESCRIPTION

The Summer Camp Group Leader is a seasonal position. The Group Leader reports to the Camp Supervisor and is responsible for assisting the Camp Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of summer Day Camp coordinating activities and leading staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 17 years of age with at least one year of youth-related leadership experience.
• Successfully complete pre-employment background check.
• Current CPR / AED Certification is required. Decision-making ability, conflict resolution and organizational skills required.
• Ability to understand and exhibit behavior consistent with the stated park district values.
• Ability to work with all age groups.
• Must possess good communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to work 5 days Monday-Friday during the summer camp season.
• Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organize & implement activities, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports and games for campers.
• Responsible for supervision of a group of children.
• Enforces rules and regulations with participants.
• Play an active role in leading the daily schedule as well as initiate spontaneous activities to accommodate agenda conflicts / changes.
• Coordinate with other counselors to create a plan of weekly and daily activities.
• Assists with daily attendance records.
• Participate in planned activities.
• Assures safety for camp participants.
• Must follow, administer, and implement Huntley Park District policies and procedures.
• Attend trainings as assigned.
• Must accurately complete reports as necessary.
• Wear Park District staff shirt and identification during all work hours.
• Ensures that safety policies are adhered to by all staff and participants.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responds to parent concerns.
• Inventory equipment and supplies.

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to tolerate sun, light rain, heat and humidity.
• While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen.
• Employee is required to stand, walk and use hands.
• Employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or kneel, lift and / or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements include, distance, color vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Employee must be able to follow supervisor directions with safe follow through and exercise good judgment and safety awareness.

• Assure a safe and hazard free environment by inspecting and taking the necessary action to correct and safeguard against potential problems and / or accidents.
• Must comply with all safety policies and procedures now in effect or adopted in the future.
• Employee must be able to follow directions with safe follow through and exercises good judgment and safety awareness.
• Employee will use all required PPE.
• All unsafe conditions are to be reported to your supervisor immediately.
