About the Opportunity
An established industrial production facility specializing in high-volume textile and uniform services is seeking a hands-on Assistant Plant Manager to join its leadership team. This role supports a 100+ year-old, fast-growing organization recognized for innovation, quality, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a driven, organized leader with a proven background in plant operations and team development within a high-throughput production or service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production activities, ensuring output, quality, and customer delivery standards are consistently met.
- Supervise multiple Production Supervisors and department leads across shifts to maintain workflow efficiency and accountability.
- Monitor and report on production metrics, performance, and any operational issues impacting output or service.
- Lead workforce planning, including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management for production teams.
- Coach and mentor supervisors and team members to build internal talent and prepare staff for promotion opportunities.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, labor laws, and company policies), ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, logistics, and customer service teams to resolve operational challenges quickly.
- Manage labor costs and production budgets, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external clients to uphold service quality and resolve any escalated issues.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through proactive problem-solving, workflow optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of supervisory or 1+ year of managerial experience in a high-volume plant or production environment.At least 2 years of customer service or client-facing experience handling service-related demands.Proven understanding of production workflow, scheduling, and team coordination.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer literacy for reporting and communication.Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with safety compliance, OSHA standards, and workplace regulations.Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
