Responsibilities of an Activities Aide
As our Activities Aide, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by implementing engaging and enjoyable programs. Your key responsibilities will include :
Implement scheduled programs and assist residents as needed, ensuring all activities are accessible, safe, and enjoyable for participants of varying abilities.
Monitor resident behavior during events and communicate to nursing as needed, providing key observations and ensuring the well-being of all participants.
Maintain and manage activity attendance calendars and documentation, accurately recording resident participation to support care planning and regulatory requirements.
Assist in preparing and displaying holiday decorations throughout the facility, fostering a festive and joyful atmosphere for residents, families, and staff.
Actively engage residents in both group and one-on-one activities, encouraging social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical movement.
Coordinate with the Activities Director to help plan new and creative activities that cater to resident interests and preferences.
Set up and break down activity areas, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for programs and properly stored afterward.
Assist residents with mobility and transportation to and from activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Maintain a clean and organized activities area, including inventorying supplies and communicating needs to the Director of Activities.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Activities and Administrator, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the department and the facility.
Qualifications
To be a successful Activities Assistant, you should possess :
A naturally energetic and fun-loving nature and the ability to keep a fast / busy pace with high energy to engage residents effectively.
A High School Diploma or equivalent.
The proven ability to work independently or as part of a group to manage daily tasks and collaborate on larger projects.
Basic computer knowledge, with a familiarity with common programs for record-keeping and communication.
Previous long-term care experience is preferred but not required, though a foundational understanding of the environment is beneficial.
The physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, push, and pull as needed to assist residents and move equipment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Creativity and a positive, compassionate attitude.
The flexibility to work on every other weekend.
