Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) – Pre-Op / Same Day Surgery (SDS)\n\nLocation : Chicago, IL\n\nJob Type : Full-Time | Onsite\n\nSchedule : Monday – Friday (7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM)\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre-Op / Same Day Surgery (SDS) team. In this role, you'll provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and a smooth surgical experience. The position requires strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills in a fast-paced hospital environment.\n\nThis is a day-shift role with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule — no weekends or on-call shifts.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n
- Assess and prepare patients before surgery, ensuring informed consent and readiness for procedures.\n
- Monitor and record vital signs, initiate IVs, and provide patient education on surgical processes.\n
- Evaluate postoperative recovery, monitor for complications, and meet discharge criteria.\n
- Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia staff, and other care team members.\n
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using the electronic health record (EHR).\n
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies using sound clinical judgment.\n
- Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, privacy, and compassionate care.\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired : \n
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)\n
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois\n
- BLS and ACLS certifications (Required)\n
- 4–5 years of experience in PACU, SDS, ICU, Med-Surg / Tele, or Emergency Department\n
- Strong interpersonal and patient communication skills\n\nPreferred : \n
- Experience in spine, orthopedic, or robotic surgery\n
- Knowledge of OR supplies and inventory procedures\n
