Position overview
We’re looking for an innovative, people-centered HR Director who is excited to redefine what “HR leadership” looks like in a modern, mission-driven organization. This is not your traditional HR seat. In this role, you’ll blend strategy and culture with policy and compliance — helping to shape an employee experience that’s as inspiring as the work we do every day.
You’ll lead core HR functions — employee relations, labor relations, benefits and total rewards — while also working hand-in-hand with our Marketing and Recruitment Director to connect HR strategy with organizational brand, culture and engagement. You’ll spend time in the field, connecting with leaders and teams across our sites, ensuring our culture is strong, consistent, and rooted in collaboration and care.
If you’re an HR professional who loves rolling up your sleeves, teaching others, building relationships and challenging traditional ways of thinking, this might be your next adventure.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and inspire : Oversee the full spectrum of HR functions — including employee relations, compliance, benefits, performance management and labor relations — while bringing a creative and strategic mindset to every initiative.
- Champion culture : Partner closely with leadership, marketing and recruitment to ensure our culture and employee experience are visible, consistent and aligned with our mission and values.
- Be a teacher and connector : Lead trainings and workshops to help leaders and staff understand and apply policies, protocols and best practices in a way that builds trust and engagement.
- Foster collaboration : Break down silos and create strong cross-departmental partnerships that make HR a true strategic ally throughout the organization.
- Engage in the field : Travel regularly to meet with leaders and employees across sites — listening, learning and helping to co-create solutions that work in real time.
- Drive labor relations excellence : Serve as a trusted resource in union negotiations, contract administration and positive labor-management relations.
- Manage total rewards : Oversee benefits strategy, compensation alignment and employee wellness initiatives using a holistic, total rewards approach.
- Lead with empathy and curiosity : Approach complex challenges with an open mind, flexibility and a willingness to look at every perspective before finding the best path forward.
