Title / Role : Senior Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Machinery & Industrial 3D Printing
Work Location : Rockford, IL

Job Summary : Seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced industrial machinery, including 3D printing and automated fiber placement systems. This role involves ownership of complex mechanical projects, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating across disciplines to bring innovative manufacturing systems to life.
Base pay range : $90,000.00 / yr - $130,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and integration of large-scale industrial equipment.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings in CREO (Parametric).
- Conduct engineering analyses, tolerance stack-ups, and material selection.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration.
- Oversee prototype builds, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct and lead design reviews, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Develop documentation such as BOMs, technical specifications, and test procedures.
- Drive continuous innovation in mechanical system performance and manufacturability.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design for capital equipment or advanced manufacturing.Proficiency in CREO CAD and PDM systems.Expertise in motion control, DFMA, and structural / mechanical systems design.Preferred Experience
Background with hydraulic, pneumatic, or robotic systems.Hands-on exposure to industrial-scale additive manufacturing or automated fiber placement.Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with ANSYS or similar tools.Strong understanding of GD&T per ANSI / ASME Y14.5 standards.Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) matchDay shift schedule with minimal travel (~5%)Summary
