Position Summary :

The Lead Driver is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, ensuring safe and efficient vehicle use, and providing leadership to a team of drivers. This role combines hands-on driving responsibilities with supervisory duties, such as coordinating routes, monitoring schedules, training new drivers, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. The Lead Driver serves as the primary point of contact between management and the driving team to ensure excellent service, timely deliveries, and adherence to company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic laws and company policies.
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of drivers to promote safe driving practices and efficient performance.
• Support morning operations and assist with assigning and sorting driver loads.
• Perform vehicle inspections before and after trips, report and address maintenance needs.
• Maintain accurate logs of mileage, deliveries, fuel use, and service records.
• Assist with onboarding and training new drivers on company policies, routes, and safety procedures.
• Serve as a support for drivers regarding route issues, scheduling, or vehicle concerns.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
• Communicate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and management to resolve delivery or scheduling challenges.
• Communicate with management any issues regarding personnel.
• Support management in evaluating driver performance and implementing improvements.
• Lead by example and represent Sidekick with respect and professionalism.
• Attend company meetings as requested.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
