Clerk Typist Position

The Westmoreland County Children's Bureau is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clerk Typist to complete our team. Our mission is to protect children from abuse and neglect, preserve families whenever possible, and to ensure that every child under our care and supervision has a safe, stable, and permanent home in which to grow. In this role, your work focuses on general office and administrative functions. Effective communication is key as you will be greeting visitors, directing individuals to proper office locations, taking information, as well as screening and routing telephone calls. You will be required to maintain an organized office and have the ability to multi-task to maintain efficiency of daily operations. You will utilize top-notch customer service and organizational skills to :

• Answer the telephone and refer inquiries to staff
• Reproduce materials on photocopy equipment
• File and retrieve documents alphabetically, numerically, or chronologically
• Open and distribute incoming messages and mail, including routing and mailing outgoing correspondence

Work Schedule and Additional Information : Full-time employment Work hours are 8 : 30 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements : Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or Any combination of equivalent experience and training. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements : You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
