Senior Enterprise Architect – NATO Transformation ProgramsLocation : HQ SACT, Norfolk, VA
Position Type : Full-time, Onsite
Clearance Requirement : Active NATO or National SECRET (or higher) security clearanceRole OverviewIronclad Defense Works (IDW) is seeking highly qualified Senior Enterprise Architects to join NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in support of its Infrastructure, NC3, and Requirements & Architecture Management Programs. These positions play a pivotal role in advancing NATO’s digital transformation and capability development by designing, aligning, and governing architectures across physical infrastructure, command and control systems, and enterprise-wide capability portfolios.
The successful candidates will apply recognized architecture frameworks (TOGAF, DoDAF, Zachman, UAF, and NATO Architecture Framework – NAF) to model, analyze, and optimize NATO’s enterprise capabilities.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise, capability, and solution architectures supporting NATO transformation programs.
- Perform architectural analysis of capabilities, identifying gaps, overlaps, and dependencies across NATO infrastructure, command & control systems, and capability portfolios.
- Produce NAF-compliant architecture views and documentation to support requirements definition, design, and portfolio management.
- Facilitate cross-domain architectural consistency across Infrastructure, NC3, and enterprise-level frameworks.
- Collaborate with military and civilian stakeholders to ensure that architectures reflect strategic and operational priorities.
- Support mission thread analysis and capability employment modeling for NATO’s NC3 modernization and integration efforts.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to requirements managers and architecture practitioners.
- Support DOTMLPFI synchronization, contributing to development and refinement of concepts, operational courses of action, and requirements traceability.
- Maintain architecture repositories, ensuring version control and alignment with NATO data governance standards.
- Deliver briefings, presentations, and architecture documentation to senior decision-makers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.5+ years of hands-on enterprise architecture experience within the past 10 years, including work on business, application, and technology architectures.Demonstrated expertise using professional modeling tools such as Sparx, ARIS, or BizzDesign.Certified in TOGAF, DoDAF, Zachman, UAF, or equivalent architecture frameworks with proficiency in ArchiMate notation.Experience translating operational or capability needs into architectural models and requirements.Ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical and senior audiences.Strong documentation, analysis, and visualization skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Eligible for NATO or National SECRET clearance and able to work in multinational environments.Desired Skills
