Work Study Student Associate, Office Of The Vice President For Research, Scholarship And Creative Endeavors
The mission of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (OVPR) is to foster the expansion of the scale, quality, and impact of scholarly endeavors at UT Austin. We are committed to building capacity, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and lowering the barriers and burden involved in scientific and creative inquiry through the development of an investigator-focused infrastructure that supports the needs of UT Austin's research enterprise.
To provide coverage for the OVPR front office and assist with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities include :
- Provides customer-focused front desk coverage for OVPR Reception Areas, including phone calls and greeting visitors.
- Greet guests and remain attentive to answer any questions they might have.
- Provide customer service, both in-person, over the phone, and via email.
- Assist in routine data collection and processing.
- Represent OVPR with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.
- Assist with shipping and receiving mail / packages.
- Help prepare materials for events such as name tags, signage, printed programs, and event packets.
- Provide clerical support, specifically with filing, record keeping, and data entry.
- Submit parking requests and parking validations.
- Confirm catering requests.
- Assist with ensuring that common areas and meeting rooms are clean throughout the day.
- Assist with set up and clean up for meetings.
- Create and manage spreadsheets and tables, using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Assist with monitoring office supplies.
- Assist with electronic and paper files, scanning, and uploading.
- Deliver items to other buildings on campus when needed.
- Assist with projects and other tasks, as assigned.
Required qualifications include :
Excellent grammar and punctuation skills, with the ability to produce clear and professional written communication as well as strong verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented.Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Strong, independent, and collaborative work ethic.Proven ability to think quickly to solve challenges as they arise.Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with departmental staff and visitors.Current undergraduate at UT Austin enrolled / registered for the current semester, and in good academic standing.Financial aid work-study recipient.Preferred qualifications include :
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.1+ year experience working in a professional office environment.Previous customer service experience or administrative support.Salary range : $15.00 hourly.
Working conditions may include :
May work around standard office conditions.Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.Use of manual dexterity.Climbing of stairs.Light lifting and moving.Work shift :
Must be available to work 15-19 hours per week.Position can begin as early as August 16th, 2025.Flexible work hours between Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, based on students' class schedule.Required materials :
