Maintenance Mechanic - High School Co-op

Job Summary : SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic Youth Co-op position is designed to give students hands-on experience with inspecting, repairing, and maintaining powered industrial equipment. The co-op will assist experienced mechanics in performing preventive and reactive maintenance on industrial and mobile equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world tasks in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assists in the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of various equipment.

Perform welding repairs and fabrications.

Apply techniques learned in school to mechanical and welding tasks.

Help repair equipment and replace defective parts under the supervision of a qualified technician.

Perform cleaning, lubrication, and other necessary maintenance work.

Complete additional tasks as assigned by senior mechanics.

Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Technical knowledge / skills

Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of the inner workings of industrial equipment and welding.

General knowledge / skills

Age 18+ and enrolled in an accredited technical high school or technical high school program in mechanical and / or welding.

Working Conditions :

Frequently exposed to loud noise, dirt, and grease while repairing equipment.

Required to work outdoors in all environments daily.

Frequent hot work and occasional confined space work.

Use hands to feel and grasp
