NOTE : Maximum range is provided as an example of the wage / salary range for each position and its earning capacity given factors such as time in position, longevity with the company education level, and performance experience. Newly entering employees should expect to enter at the minimum to midrange level, and not the cap which is for employees with tenure and above level skill sets in that position.
PURPOSE OF POSITION :
Provides a high level of customer service to Goodwill by performing a variety of People and Culture functions including, but not limited to, recruitment, sourcing, interviewing, and processing candidates for non-exempt positions. Supports the development and maintenance of “community partnerships” and will coordinate the placement from the various referred programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assumes responsibility for sourcing and interviewing hourly and non-exempt staff applicants to ensure timely and quality staffing by :
a. Performs screening of applicants by phone or via the “on-site” regularly scheduled screenings. Conducts reference / background checks and conducts Orange County Court
searches on all candidates, including program participants, identified for possible placement.
b. Sources qualified candidates through any / all recruitment resources, including community partnerships.
c. Maintains a spreadsheet of the “transitional workforce”. Tracks movement of all program participants and provides reports to Mission Services as needed.
d. Completes Mission Services referral forms of “people served” in areas of employment and other services.
e. Enters applicant data into ADP Applicant Tracking and converts to new hire status as appropriate.
f. Ensures drug-testing results are recorded and facilitates process with the clinic.
g. Ensures I-9 documentation for new hires is valid per E-Verify.
Performs administrative activities related to the employment process :
a. Updates Cal-Jobs site weekly with open positions / descriptions, and forwards job opportunities postings to all community partnerships.
b. Updates internal job postings weekly and emails to designed individuals in People and Culture procedure, posts on bulletin board at corporate office, and sends faxes / e-mails to external resources.
c. Updates job hotline weekly.
Provides back-up on general administration functions within the People and Culture Department as needed. Participates in People and Culture projects and development of department strategies to ensure optimal operating procedures by offering suggestions / recommendations for improvements. Maintains current knowledge of regulations and procedures related to People and Culture functions through attendance at industry meetings and seminars as determined in conjunction with the Vice President of People and Culture. Ensures compliance with regulations and procedures in providing advice and guidance to employees by checking data / resources including People and Culture Policies, People and Culture Handbook, internal resource documents, and by seeking advice of other People and Culture Professionals within the department and externally as required. Maintain confidentiality of information.
Drives on company business as required. Works overtime as required. Must have timely and reliable transportation in order to get to and from work events at various locations. Performs other duties as required. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property. Acts safely at all times following all safety rules and regulations, as well as follows all company policies and procedures. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness. Works with, trains, and / or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Two years of college with HR Certification desired. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent experience. One to two years’ experience in a Human Resources environment. Proficient PC skills including Word and Excel. HR Database experience is preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in Spanish, preferred . Valid California driver’s license, liability insurance, and a DMV record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company if use of personal vehicle for business purposes.
WORK SCHEDULE : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM-5 : 00 PM / Full-Time.
