This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Pee Dee Mental Health Center Darlington County Office, 900 South Fourth Street, Hartsville, SC 29550.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional :

  • Provide direct counseling services to a general caseload of adults.
  • Provide clinical assessments and crisis intervention services to consumers.
  • Maintain all required documentation in compliance with QA and Center Standards. Adhere to corporate compliance standards.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings, monthly supervisions, and offers support / constructive suggestions to members of the treatment team.

For MHP Student Loan Repayment :

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Guidance, or Counseling. One year (1) Post-Master's experience in a clinical setting.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Be able to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate course work including Psychopathology / Psychopathology Diagnostics / Clinical Assessments Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) and Medical Ethics.
  • Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum, internship, or post-graduate experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Have sound theoretical knowledge of principles, methods, counseling practices, and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders.
  • Be able to listen and understand, and effectively communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Have knowledge of psychopathology and patient management within the psychiatric setting.
  • Have knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies.
  • Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines.
