JOB SUMMARY :

The Electrical Superintendent organizes, supervises, and directs the assigned job crew's electrical work. The Superintendent will organize and control the project's preparation and execution to meet the company's objectives of cost, quality, and equipment conservation. Monitor and document the assigned job's progress, including the quality and quantity of work performed by the job crew. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the project is completed on time and within budget. This position will serve as a liaison between Tri-City and the General Contractor.

Perform skilled labor duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to :

  • \tAssisting the project manager in establishing the Project Electrical budget, and expediting change orders, changes to the project, and preparing and maintaining the construction schedule.
  • \tReview project documents, drawings, wiring diagrams, instructional manuals, specifications, and blueprints to schedule work activities and field installations according to the scope of work and project schedule.
  • \tParticipate in the development and management of a project schedule to include three and six-week look-ahead schedules.
  • \tDevelop a site logistics plan.
  • \tPlan, organize, and direct production of contracted scope of work.
  • \tCoordinate production and attend meetings with other trades as well as the general contractor to identify and resolve any conflicts while providing excellent customer service.
  • \tResponsible for safe installations, alterations, additions, and / or repairs of electrical systems and associated materials and equipment within the commercial electrical industry.
  • \tInspect and ensure all installations meet quality and electrical code standards.
  • \tLayout project work and ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available to meet the project construction schedule.
  • \tComplete essential paperwork such as material requests, timesheets, safety, and incident reports.
  • \tMeets budgets regularly and maximizes profits, taking necessary actions to maintain financial targets.
  • \tMaintain familiarity with plans, specifications, and job folder contract scope.
  • \tReview all electrical drawings with the team performing assigned jobs / tasks.
  • \tUtilizes quantitative reporting / weekly labor variance reports and measures performance weekly.
  • \tDevelops, monitors, and reports on the completion of craft / subcontractor punch list activities.
  • \tMaintain daily reports, timesheets, safety, and accident reports.
  • \tMonitors discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost, and reports to Supervisor.
  • \tApply knowledge of National Electrical Codes as needed.
  • \tCoordinate work with Purchasing to ensure that requested material is expedited and received as needed for the construction of the project.
  • \tOrder daily materials as needed for your work area and follow up on backorders as necessary.
  • \tDocuments all change orders.
  • \tDevelop a stable working relationship with assigned subcontractor(s).
  • \tMonitor and resolve matters relating to work procedures, complaints, damages, accidents, and delays.
  • \tConfer with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors to resolve problems and coordinate activities.
  • \tRecognize and communicate to the Project Manager any priority project problems, such as employee, job costing issues, or any need for concern.
  • \tProvide the workforce with current and accurate information as generated by company representatives (Safety, HR, Purchasing, Accounting, etc.).
  • \tEstimate material and worker requirements to complete jobs and assist with electrical system installation, troubleshooting, and repair as needed.
  • \tEnsure all company, department, and technical policies, procedures, standards, etc., are adhered to.
  • \tEnsure all company safety measures and regulations are followed and enforce the use of safety equipment when required.
  • \tParticipate in safety / incident investigations and reviews.
  • \tMonitor and manage tool control for the job site and ensure areas are properly cleaned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

This position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

  • \tResponsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • \tSkilled electrician with at least two (2) years of experience managing crews and running projects, and at least 10 years of experience in the electrical trade.
  • \tKnowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, the order of operations) to calculate labor, materials, and / or cost estimates for projects and work orders, etc.
  • \tAbility to read and understand blueprints.
  • \tA proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
  • \tIn-depth knowledge of NEC, local building codes, industry standards, and job site safety requirements.
  • \tExperience with material and labor costs.
  • \tExcellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and a strong safety background.
  • \tProficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • \tAbility to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level.
  • \tHold a valid Florida Driver's license that is in good standing to meet the company's driving requirements.
  • \tHigh school or equivalent.

  • \tThis job operates in a construction job site environment and outside in heat / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions, or inside conditions.
  • \tWhile performing this job's duties, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee may be occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
  • \tOften exposed to loud sounds and noise levels as well as very bright or inadequate lighting conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
  • \tRegular exposure to dirt, hazardous equipment, wiring, and underground and / or elevated heights.
