Civil Engineer - Mid-Level

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Civil Engineer to join our Honolulu office. As part of the Civil Group, the Civil Engineer assists the planning, design and plan production for general civil engineering on a wide variety of projects which may include site civil design, rough & precise grading, dredging, drainage design, utility design (sewer, water, & storm drain).

Duties and responsibilities :

• Assist and supports designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models
• Assist the preparation of engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
• Supports the analysis of project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs
• Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
• Assist in the production of engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules
• Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, inspecting construction site, and verifying calculations and placements
• Supports fulfills project requirements by training and guiding operators
• Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions
• Maintains project database by writing computer programs, entering data, and completing backups

Microstation, Civil3D, or SWMM proficiency; preferred

Base salary range :

$90,000 to $110,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii markets.

Working conditions :

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
