How You Will Make An Impact

Instruct classes for 9-12th grade students. The Music Instructor will ensure a positive, fun, supportive and creative experience for all students.

Provide instruction on a range of music including music theory, reading music, finger placement and technique, chord variation and progression, scales, tuning basics
Communicate instruction to students in a courteous and respectful manner
Prepare materials for instruction
Be on time and prepared for class to start at the designated time
Provide set-up I clean-up and any other tasks, as arranged in advance
Work with the Educational Administrators to plan classes
Communicate regularly with Educational Staff and Parents about student progress
Participate in departmental resource and program enhancement
Maintain currency in techniques / method
Participate in school activities and events that facilitate student learning and achievement
Administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time
Adhere to attendance policies

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc

Ability to convey ideas in the classroom with enthusiasm and creativity

Exhibit a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of K-12 students

Ability to interact successfully with a broad student population and work with various learning styles

Education / Experience Required

Bachelor's Degree in education, specific subject area (i.e. a degree in mathematics), or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

Valid California Teaching credential

Music authorization for the assignment is required.

Strong teaching and interpersonal skills.

Experience arranging student performances.

Physical Requirements

Mental Demands : high workflow management, and high project coordination.

Finger Dexterity : primarily using fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Talking : especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly

Average Hearing : able to hear average conversations and receive ordinary information.

Average Visual Abilities : ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery

Physical Strength : sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs).

Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, and repetitious exacting work required.

Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.
