Reports To : Project Manager
Position Summary
Powers & Sons Construction seeks a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support our diverse construction portfolio in the NW Indiana market. This role will focus on educational facilities, municipal buildings, multi-family residential developments, and other institutional projects serving the Northwest Indiana community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from pre-construction through completion
- Prepare and review project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans
- Conduct quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners
- Perform quality control inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Track project progress and prepare status reports for senior management
- Assist with change order processing and documentation
- Support field operations and problem-solving activities
- Maintain project documentation and ensure proper record-keeping
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field2+ years of experience in construction project management or engineeringProficiency in construction software (Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project)Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulationsKnowledge of local building codes and permit processesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in industrial environments and outdoor conditionsValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred Qualifications
Experience with educational, municipal, or institutional construction projectsFamiliarity with OSHA 30-Hour certificationKnowledge of Indiana Department of Education facility standardsExperience with public bidding processes and prevailing wage requirementsCompensation & Benefits
