Position Overview :
The Production Planner / Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating the flow of production hardware to meet customer demands and internal requirements.
This position involves monitoring and controlling the product line MRP (Material Requirements Planning) schedules, ensuring that production processes align with both customer orders and organizational needs.
The role requires proactive planning, effective communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure timely and accurate production and delivery.
Key Responsibilities :
Production Scheduling : Monitor and manage product line MRP schedules to support customer demands and internal requirements.
Accommodate and plan for early customer need requirements if feasible.
- Exception Reporting : Generate and respond to MRP / MPS (Material Planning System) exception reports promptly to define due dates and priorities for shop floor or procurement staff.
- Coordination : Utilize various tools to review and coordinate efforts needed to meet the start and completion dates for components, sub-assemblies, and top assemblies.
- Capacity and Constraints : Alert upper-level supervision about unresolved capacity or material constraints that may affect the company’s ability to meet scheduled delivery requirements.
- Data Validation : Validate shop order packet data for accuracy and completeness. Correct any discrepancies before submitting to the shop floor.
- System Data Corrections : Notify interfacing departments to correct system data values that result in invalid outputs, particularly those impacting shop load and scheduling.
- Drawing and Revision Management : Respond to and coordinate activities associated with part drawing releases and subsequent revisions.
- Planning and Traceability : Review planning SO travelers to ensure all required items are released with proper lot numbers for traceability.
- Special Requirements : Prepare special labels and packing slips per customer requirements, including serial numbers, .
numbers, critical paths, and X-ray numbers.
- Manufacturing Follow-Up : Follow up with manufacturing to ensure work orders are completed as scheduled.
- Compliance : Adhere to prescribed operating practices, including QCI (Quality Control Inspection), MEP (Manufacturing Engineering Procedures), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree preferred, but extensive relevant experience is considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience : 6 months to 1+ year of experience with ERP / MRP systems (., AS400) and supply chain functions such as buying, planning, inventory control, or production coordination.
- Production Experience : Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in data entry and maintaining accuracy.
- Personal Attributes : Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities, quick learning capabilities, and excellent communication skills.
