Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing both standardized assessments and observational insights.
  • Create customized treatment plans aimed at achieving specific communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
  • Offer individualized speech therapy targeting language, voice, fluency, and swallowing challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, nurses, doctors, caregivers, and families to foster an integrated approach to care.
  • Provide education and resources to patients and their families to promote progress outside of therapy sessions.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Keep meticulous documentation compliant with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain updated with advancements in speech-language pathology.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification has not been obtained.
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred : Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Required : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of starting.
  • Skills

  • Expertise in evidence-based approaches suitable for all age groups, with a solid framework for understanding developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Ability to tailor therapy methods to address various cultural and linguistic needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and clinical judgment.
  • Comfortable using electronic medical records and adhering to documentation standards.
