POSITION TITLE :      Nursing Director

DEPARTMENT : Executive Team

REPORTS TO : Managing Director of Recuperative Care

LOCATION :              Multiple Recuperative Car Sites (Los Angeles and Ventura County based, with local travel)

CLASSIFICATION :     Exempt

SALARY : $115,000K

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing will provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of all nursing functions across National Health Foundation’s Recuperative Care facilities. This individual will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, compassionate care is delivered consistently to all guests, aligning with the organization’s mission and philosophy of care.

Key responsibilities include staff recruitment and development, regulatory compliance, budgeting, quality assurance, and the development of care protocols tailored to the recuperative care environment. The Director will play a pivotal role in expanding and enhancing NHF’s nursing capabilities as the organization grows and adapts to the evolving needs of its guests and community.

Responsibilities and Initiatives

To help NHF meet its growth goals, the Director of Nursing will :

  • Lead and manage nursing operations across all recuperative care sites, overseeing LVN Nursing Managers, LVN Medical Coordinators, and Medical Assistants. Willingness and ability to travel regularly to all company sites as required, ensuring consistent support and oversight across all locations.
  • Lead initiatives to standardize care delivery and clinical workflows across all recuperative care locations.
  • Collaborate with Leadership, Site Directors, Social Services, and Case Management to create a seamless continuum of care for guests.
  • Promote staff wellness, engagement, and retention through supportive supervision and recognition programs.
  • Develop partnerships with educational institutions for clinical training and workforce pipeline initiatives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and development opportunities, and ensure staff maintain the best practices in trauma-informed and person-centered care.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Establish and maintain systems for incident reporting, risk management, and guest safety.
  • Identify innovative resources and develop external partnerships to support clinical operations and improve guest care.
  • Oversee medical supply ordering and budget management to ensure cost-effective, timely purchasing, and inventory control across all sites.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response efforts for the organization.
  • Ensure all recuperative care sites are prepared for audits, licensing reviews, and accreditation processes. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and infection control standards.
  • Serve as primary liaison with health plans and hospital partners regarding length-of-stay approvals, care transitions, and clinical documentation.
  • Participate in guest intake processes to assess clinical suitability for the Recuperative Care Program.
  • Address guest and employee grievances in a timely, empathetic, and compliant manner.
  • Function as the organizational representative for nursing-related matters with hospital partners, managed care organizations, board members, and other stakeholders.
  • Create a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and compassionate care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the National Health Foundation
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the State of California – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) – Required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration – Preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid certification – Required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in community health, public health, recuperative care, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, HIPAA, hospital discharge processes, and interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Requirements

    Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in an office and clinical setting within Recuperative Care facilities.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling documentation.
  • Visual and auditory acuity required to interact with patients, staff, and partners.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
