Estimator Position
A well-established Georgia-based general contractor with a diverse portfolio of public and private projects is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This role is critical in developing accurate budgets, analyzing drawings and specifications, and supporting project teams to ensure successful bids and project delivery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to contribute to a company known for steady work volume, strong client relationships, and high-quality construction.
The Ideal Candidate Is :
Skilled at reading plans, specs, and addenda to identify cost impacts early
Collaborative and team-oriented, able to partner with project managers, superintendents, and trade partners
Comfortable working on multiple bids and budgets with competing deadlines
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for ground-up, renovation, and tenant improvement projects
Review design documents for constructability, completeness, and cost efficiency
Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
Collaborate with project managers and leadership to develop project budgets and GMP proposals
Participate in preconstruction meetings and provide value-engineering suggestions
Maintain historical cost data and update unit pricing as needed
Support project handoff by clearly communicating budget assumptions to operations teams
Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners to ensure competitive coverage
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered for candidates with strong estimating background
Experience : 2+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating; proven track record preparing estimates for public and private sector projects; familiarity with CSI divisions and knowledge of building systems, materials, and assemblies
Technical Competencies : Proficiency in estimating software (Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar); strong skills in Microsoft Excel and ability to create detailed cost breakdowns; ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings
Other Qualifications : Ability to attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits; professional demeanor and ability to represent the company with clients and partners
