Position Summary :
Provide hands-on laboratory and test support, utilizing provided training to aid in material characterization, component testing, and hardware evaluation. Support the full product life cycle from research and development through low-volume production test campaigns. Provide test setup, instrumentation, sample preparation, and data collection support as required. Must be a responsible self-starter.
Description of Duties :
- Support engineering and test programs with basic to medium-complexity laboratory and test operations.
- Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to prepare samples, assemble test fixtures, and execute test procedures.
- Prepare and finish test coupons and components in accordance with engineering and test specifications.
- Set up, instrument, and operate laboratory / test equipment including force testers, environmental chambers, vacuum systems, and data acquisition systems.
- Document test setups, results, and verification processes in accordance with internal procedures.
- Must be capable of supporting prototype testing in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
- Maintain lab cleanliness, sample traceability, and proper organization of test articles and equipment.
- Provide back-up support for manufacturing and engineering technicians as needed.
- Communicate test anomalies, nonconformances, and equipment issues to engineering and quality.
- Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Will be required to perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
- Typically bends, stoops, and crouches when connecting instrumentation or configuring test fixtures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Proficient in basic laboratory operations, assembly of test fixtures, and handling of aerospace components.Ability to read engineering drawings, test schematics, and basic GD&T per ASME Y14.5.Knowledgeable in the use of common laboratory tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, force gauges, thermal / pressure sensors, multimeters).Knowledge of and experience with FOD prevention and maintaining a visibly clean, controlled laboratory environment.Knowledge of and proficiency in the safe use of mechanical measuring and test instrumentation.Skill in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory workspace.Ability to operate test and lab equipment such as environmental chambers, vacuum pumps, ovens, torque tools, pneumatic tools, and data acquisition systems.Capable of working from verbal and written test procedures and engineering direction.Ability to support production and development test requirements, including safe operation of standard lab equipment.Ability to stand, stoop, and crouch over 50% of the time.Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.Ability to read and follow standard work and test instructions.Ability to troubleshoot routine lab issues independently and demonstrate self-initiative in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
