Job Overview :

The Area Sales Manager, West will report to the Sr. Director of Sales and will be responsible for the sales revenue growth for the entire Phase Scientific Americas testing portfolio for the Western USA.

This position will lead a team of Regional Account Executives to achieve sales goals and continuously develop the team’s selling and technical skills.

This position will bring their experience and expertise to drive revenue growth and help establish sales strategy and infrastructure in the company.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully growing a B2B sales division, preferably within biotech or medical industries.

Experience working with distributors is a plus.

Responsibilities :

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading the team to achieve maximum sales for the Area and overall profitability for the organization.

This position requires proven ability to lead, coach, drive team performance and accountability with proven skills in managing and developing a sales team.

  • Builds, develops, and leads sales team capable of exceeding sales goals and providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, develop, and evaluate sales talent.
  • Assists executive leadership with strategy development, sales forecasting and tactical plans.
  • Works collaboratively with marketing, finance, operations and other stakeholders in the commercial ecosystem.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, always looking for solutions and new opportunities to generate revenue.
  • Leverages and drives routine usage of ZOHO (CRM) to ensure continuous alignment of team members Key Performance Indicators and Sales Pipeline.
  • Maintains overall responsibility for personnel issues, including hiring, terminations, employee performance appraisals, succession planning, identifying training needs and professional development.
  • Utilize ZOHO CRM to productively plan, conduct, and record / track daily sales activities.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records via ZOHO CRM, tracking departmental expenses and budgets.

Requirements :

  • At least 5 years and preferably 7+ years of progressive sales experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in a supervisor or managerial role
  • Bachelor's degree in business management recommended, with Life Science or Diagnostic Industry experience a plus
  • Sales and Marketing knowledge of principles and methods for effectively detailing, promoting, and selling products / solutions, as well as a practical understanding of sales and customer service techniques.
  • B2B Marketing and Sales experience
  • Solid skills in using Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other similar business productivity programs
  • Customer relationship management CRM software (e.g. Salesforce or ZOHO CRM)

Benefits :

  • Compensation : (Base Salary $100,000 - $125,000) + ($40,000 in potential commission) depending on performance.
