Job Title
Responsible for assisting in the coordination and implementation of activities and processes related to the Balance of Plant process, with a concentration on plant fire protection systems. This individual would be responsible for the plant fire brigade team, assisting with fire protection projects and ensuring compliance of preventative maintenance tasks and applicable fire safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists in managing projects for installation or repair of fire protection systems; Work with applicable contract companies as needed.
- Serves as a resource for advice on plant fire protection systems.
- Reports all irregularities and abnormal conditions of plant fire protection equipment and systems to Balance of Plant Process Owner.
- Assists in testing and documents the plant fire suppression and deluge systems, including the testing of fire hoses, fire extinguishers, SCBA's, rescue breathers, fire truck, turnout gear, and arc flash gear.
- Assists in the training of the plant fire brigade team; Works with local fire departments as needed.
- Assists in tracking of documentation on applicable preventative maintenance tasks
- Works with our fire insurance company on a regular basis to assist with audits and provide project updates.
- Must have an understanding of the tools and equipment used for all fire suppression systems including the layout, construction, and the basic mechanical and electrical principles of operations.
- Make suggestions for the improvement of the fire protection program.
- Advises management on the administration of the event prevention policies and procedures, including public safety matters.
- Performs duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state safety laws and regulations, and all applicable company safety rules and operating procedures.
- Monitors equipment assigned to the Balance of Plant process. Reports issues to Process Owner as needed.
- Consults with or actively seeks advice from Original Equipment Manufacturers, vendors and contractors concerning system equipment issues.
- Assists with the development of maintenance, predictive maintenance, operation, and analytical plans for Balance of Plant equipment and processes.
- Participates in the Work Management Process and provides technical support to maintenance / ICE department.
- Assists Balance of Plant Process Owner in acquiring quotes for projects.
- Assists BOP Process Owner and outage group with planning of necessary system work for upcoming forced / planned outages.
- Administers and coordinates the clearance permit procedure and policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications : Education :
Associate degree in a relevant field or a high school diploma with four (4) more years of related industrial experience.
Experience :
Relevant on-the-job experience or education above and beyond that described above may be substituted for part of the experience and / or education requirement. Experience in fire protection, loss prevention, or firefighting is preferred.
