Job Description Title: Van Driver Supervisor
Reports to: Transportation Coordinator
Overview: Responsible for the supervision of the CREC Van Drivers in our Hartford, CT location. Plans, organizes and assigns work within established timeframes and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Supervisees the daily operations for the CREC van driver department.
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment and positive relationships with schools and division personnel
- Works as the morning dispatcher
- Responds to inquiries from staff, parents, schools, districts, and programs.
- Resolve logistical issues to ensure safe and timely transportation
- Participates in safety meetings, workshops and trainings
- Performs administrative functions (e.g. training, supervising, posting all available work, updating and maintaining work wheels, processing hours for payroll, and creating reports as necessary.)
- Responds to emergencies including after hour situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns
- Provide support to the Transportation Department as needed
Qualifications: - Five years relevant school transportation experience
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
- Strong managerial skills; ability to motivate people to perform at their best
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite & routing software
- Knowledge of Federal and State DMV laws and regulations
- Must have a valid STV endorsement or be able to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment. Endorsement must be maintained as a requirement for the position.
