Global Category Lead - APIs & Raw Materials

The Global Category Lead Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) & Raw Materials is an integral part of our Procurement team based out of our US - Teaneck, NJ site. This role focuses on sourcing APIs and other key components required for manufacturing. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing global sourcing strategies that ensure cost efficiency, supply continuity, regulatory compliance, and innovation.

The ideal candidate brings extensive global expertise in the Life Sciences or Healthcare industry, with a strong track record in supplier management, contract negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration. The role will also collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and manage strategic suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships that drive innovation, quality, and cost optimization.
• Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms on pricing, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation, ensuring compliance with GMP, FDA, and other regulatory standards.
• Monitor and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, regulatory changes, and supplier performance through proactive planning and contingency strategies.
• Conduct market intelligence and benchmarking to stay ahead of industry trends, pricing dynamics, and emerging technologies in the API and pharmaceutical raw materials space.
• Oversee supplier qualification, onboarding, and audits, ensuring adherence to GMP, ISO, and corporate quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, leveraging digital tools and best practices to enhance efficiency, transparency, and sustainability.
• Support corporate Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and sustainability goals by promoting responsible sourcing and ethical supplier practices.
