The Fire Life Safety Director protects life and property through the implementation of the building’s fire safety plan, including the management of the Fire Command Station and the supervision of the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.Maintain fire safety teams on all floors.Conduct fire alarm drills, maintain a written log, and identify weaknesses.Provide clear direction and assistance to visitors, guests, vendors, and employees.Assist building security staff in badge identification and access verification.Maintain surveillance and report suspicious persons and / or packages.Perform CPR / AED and basic first aid if required.Physical and Mental Functions
Stand or walk constantly for up to an entire shift.Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally.Bend / twist at waist, knees, or neck to perform various duties.Lift or carry up to 40 pounds occasionally.Run as needed.Use both hands and arms in reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering while using a phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.Use eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co‑workers, view security monitors, and maintain hand / eye coordination.Work in adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat.Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.At least 18 years of age.Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.Frequent preparation of clear, legible written reports and logs.Read and understand operating procedures and instructions.Compliance with all licensing requirements as per state / local laws.Successful background investigation and post‑off‑er / pre‑employment drug / alcohol test.Maintain current active status of all required licenses and carry them on duty.Exceptional customer service and communication skills.Flexibility to adapt to ever‑changing environments.Intermediate computer skills for innovative, wireless technology.Maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.Neat and professional appearance.Ability to handle common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently.Read, understand, and clearly speak English; use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required).Handle pressure of working with high volume general public.Equal Opportunity Employer
