Overview
POSITION OVERVIEW : Leads the Marketing & Innovation team in planning and executing Mueller Sports Medicine’s (MSM) Marketing and Innovation vision, objectives, strategies, and tactics. Manages the innovation process from pre-ideation through commercialization. Coaches cross functional team of marketers, engineers, designers, e-commerce staff and end-user experts working with all functions across the company daily to ensure continuously improving, industry-leading innovation output.
Responsibilities
40% Leadership and Management
- Act as a key member on the Executive Committee, leading all marketing, e-commerce and innovation strategic planning, resourcing and ensuring thorough execution.
- Lead all aspects of the marketing department, including consumer, professional, integrated, creative and insights areas.
- Lead all aspects of the Innovation program from pre-ideation to idea qualification through development and to commercialization.
- Manages with excellence, utilizes resources efficiently, and develops talent.
- Direct marketing strategy and tactics to achieve sales and marketing objectives.
- Work closely with management, other functions and outside resources to analyze ROI and align marketing efforts with sales goals.
- Produce and monitor an annual budget.
- Prepare specific marketing and advertising budgets, manage to ensure funds are appropriately spent.
- Review and develop marketing related company policies.
- Oversees and directs the work of the global Innovation staff across all MSM product lines.
- Oversees the development and management of Renovation, Innovation and Invention to ensure a robust pipeline of innovation for two launch windows each calendar year across multiple channels. Including building strong relationships and collaborative innovation strategies with key suppliers.
- Creates and manages end-user panels for ATCs, athletes and mass market consumers plus new emerging segments such as e-sports, industrial athletes, and other unique segments.
- In conjunction with the CEO, President and Legal Counsel, develops and partners on intellectual property strategy that maximizes protection for MSM innovation in the marketplace.
- In conjunction with the CEO and President, maximizes the use of the M-Center to highlight innovation to key stakeholders.
- Advises management on effective brand strategies.
30% Advertising, Branding, Digital, Insights & Social Media
Oversee development of marketing collateral including on-line material, in-store POS material, packaging, brochures, videos, presentations, promotional materials, and trade show graphics.Lead insight mining to deeply understand the consumer and end-user targets, utilizing behavioral science and modern techniques.Measure target markets and demographics and apply insights to ongoing branding, innovation and marketing efforts.Lead e-commerce strategy and execution for core products, premium products in both 1P and 3P as well as muellersportsmed.com, driving significant year-on-year growth.Partner with Sales to develop categories at retail and sell - in both new products and existing incremental volume.Grow Mueller’s technology infrastructure for marketing (e.g. tools for content management, localization).Direct and manage outside contractors to ensure their work aligns with Mueller’s strategy, on time and on budget.Direct and manage promotions using evidence-based ROI and performance measurement.Direct, execute, and monitor social media & digital strategy.Analyze Mueller’s marketing strengths and weaknesses vs. its competition.Support new product launches, including marketing programs, new packaging, trade releases, and product data sheets.Direct and manage press releases and other public relations opportunities.Define unique brand positioning and execute branding strategy (company-wide, market-specific, and product-specific).Lead branding across all mediums, including industry trade shows.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the position functions of the job.15 or more years of relevant agency, marketing, innovation, sales or other related experience.10 or more years of progressive marketing leadership and management experience.5 or more years of e-commerce leadership experience, specifically Amazon.com.Recent experience with localization and internationalization marketing.Demonstrated success at marketing retail products to physically active consumers.Demonstrated knowledge of retail (mass-market, sporting goods, pharmacy) markets and understanding of Nielsen / IRI / ACV data.Significant experience with in-store marketing campaigns, promotions and digital promotions.Significant experience with a variety of innovation concepts, practices, and procedures.Compliance with the Mueller Quality Management Systems and current regulatory requirements.Preferred Qualifications
Marketing experience with a medical or sporting goods product company.Direct to consumer and DRTV experience.Ability to speak / write multiple languages.Required Skills

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate office equipment and read. The team member frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Position requires frequent typing. Position requires regular (40%) business travel, including operation of a motor vehicle.
