Med Surg Registered Nurse Opportunities! - Oncology

  • Position Offers possible options for Full time or Part time roles as well as day or night shift roles.
  • Sign on Bonus for Full time is $5,000 and Part time is $2,500.

The 8300 Medical-Surgical Oncology Unit at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital is a 44-bed unit that cares for a diverse patient population with medical-surgical needs including cardiothoracic, abdominal, vascular, gastrointestinal, women’s health, surgeries and surgical oncology patients. Our unit provides a supportive learning environment for both new graduates and experienced nurses, offering the chance to master advanced clinical skills, such as the care of cardiothoracic surgical patients, chest tubes, and patients undergoing oncology or vascular treatments. Nurses on this unit develop significant expertise in cancer care, surgical oncology, and managing complex conditions related to acute and chronic vascular diseases. In addition to handling advanced medical equipment and tools essential for cancer treatment, the 8300 team is committed to continuous professional growth. We are affiliated with renowned organizations, including the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, the Oncology Nursing Society, Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing, the American Cancer Society, and the American Nurses Association. Nurses are encouraged to pursue certifications in Medical-Surgical Nursing, GERO-BC, palliative care, and the ONS Chemotherapy Certification, further enhancing their skills in providing comprehensive, compassionate care. The 8300 unit combines a rich educational environment with a focus on patient-centered care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care
  • needs at various stages of the life cycle
  • Preferred membership in related professional organization
  • Up to 1 year Clinical in Nursing experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive initial and ongoing patient/family assessments and documents findings per organizational standards.
  • Develops, updates, and communicates individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Provides safe, patient‑centered nursing care, prioritizing autonomy, dignity, cultural sensitivity, and timely response to emergencies.
  • Accurately executes physician orders, administers medications and treatments, and performs technical skills according to policy.
  • Evaluates patient outcomes and adjusts care plans accordingly; documents responses and teaching provided.
  • Supervises delegated tasks and supports effective team‑based care.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, contributes to a positive learning environment, and participates in ongoing professional development.
  • Completes assignments and documentation within required timeframes and maintains current knowledge of unit and organizational updates.
