About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years in a similar role

License : Must have an active nursing license prior to start date

Certifications : ACLS, BCLS

Must-Have :

Proficient in cardiac monitoring

Management of chest tubes

Fresh tracheostomy care

Feeding tube care and management

Care of post-operative patients

Epidural care

Management of non-titratable cardiac drips

IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips

External BiPAP / CPAP management

Doppler flap checks

Description :

First-time travelers are accepted.

Local candidates are not accepted.

Call-ins for contracted shifts require the traveler to make up the missed shift within the pay period.

If unable to make up a required shift, it will be added to the end of the traveler's contract.

Travelers may be expected to work every other weekend as per their contract.

Consecutive weekends may be required based on operational needs.

Charge nurse responsibilities may be required, with training and resources provided.

Unit staffing ratios are 1 : 3-4.

This is a Surgical Progressive Care Unit with almost ICU-level acuity.

Patient diagnoses may include ENT, thoracic, general surgical, urology, and medical overflow cases.

Experience with arterial line management, central line management, chest tubes, and surgical drains is preferred.

Care of the inpatient post-operative patient and enteral feedings are essential tasks.

Travelers may float to different levels of care as needed.

Floating is required of all travelers.

Travelers should expect a unit working environment that includes interdisciplinary support services.

Candidates are expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Two supervisor references are required.
