Position Title : Director of Emergency Services

Position Summary :

The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Emergency Department. This role oversees service delivery, personnel management, program development, and resource allocation to ensure consistent, high-quality, and patient-centered emergency care. The director will foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities :

• Identify and address current and potential challenges within the department, implementing effective solutions and ensuring clear communication.
• Participate in departmental, facility-wide, and interdisciplinary committees, serving as a liaison and communicator for the Emergency Department.
• Promote and advance initiatives aimed at improving the patient experience.
• Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports, offering feedback, performance evaluations, and individual development planning.
• Maintain compliance with human resource policies and procedures.
• Communicate organizational updates and industry changes effectively to department staff.
• Encourage and support employee engagement through evidence-based practices.
• Develop and sustain strong professional relationships to support departmental and organizational goals.
• Conduct regular rounding with employees and patients, and identify / mentor emerging leaders within the team.
• Uphold and enforce standards of emergency care; develop and monitor processes to ensure adherence.
• Design, implement, and evaluate an ongoing quality program aligned with organizational mission and patient care goals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards for patients, staff, and the environment.
• Lead a performance improvement program that continuously evaluates key areas of emergency care.
• Ensure operational excellence and delivery of quality services in accordance with policies, procedures, and professional standards.
• Comply with infection control and safety policies, including those related to bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
• Collaborate in recruitment and staffing strategies to ensure adequate and skilled departmental coverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
