Job description

TE Connectivity in Plymouth, MN is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. As a process leader for stamping, molding, or assembly related topics, ensure processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. Utilize knowledge of associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment.

Enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. Design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production.

Support Product Development in selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. Act as interface between engineering and production research & development to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Collaborate directly with operations through daily tier meetings, day-to-day support, troubleshooting, and technician direction for responsible production lines. Lead cost of poor quality / yield improvement through small to medium scale projects. Author and route deviation authorizations and documentation change plans. Root cause analysis. Establish oneself as a technical subject matter expert for responsible areas.

Establish and execute test method validations, engineering studies, capability assessments and characterization efforts. Perform equipment procurement, improvement, and validation. Participate in cross-functional activities with manufacturing engineering, quality, supply chain and operations. Adhere to quality and compliance standards to ensure safe and effective use of the devices TE manufactures.

Train, coach, and mentor less experienced engineers and technicians. Perform fixture design, development, and implementation.

Requirements

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 6 months of experience in the job offered, in a related medical device manufacturing environment, or in a related occupation.

  • Statistical analysis skills (process capability, equivalence studies, regression, ANOVA, DOE, SPC).
  • Working knowledge of job requirements in medical industry (FDA regulations).
  • Applying Lean concepts to improve process quality and efficiency.
  • Applying Six Sigma problem solving tools.
  • Process and equipment qualification and validation.
  • Measurement System Analysis and Test Method Validation.

Job Requirements

  • Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products / services or processes.
  • Working independently to solve problems where precedents may not exist and providing new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Training or mentoring junior staff or new members and providing inputs on performance expectations.
  • Aiding project management responsibilities in absence of the team leader / project manager.
