Overview

Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager : Water - Sioux Falls, SD

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional services for water engineering projects, including planning, study, design, and construction administration.
  • Manage performance of the project team (Project Engineers, Junior Engineers, Technicians).
  • Maintain and develop client relationships; pursue new opportunities and maintain existing ones.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on project deliverables.
  • Maintain project budgets and schedules; coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.
  • Provide mentorship for team members.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 4+ years of experience in municipal civil engineering with strong interest in the water market sector (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required for project / client responsibilities and business development.
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members.
  • Knowledge of design standards and permitting.
  • Eligibility to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records) as applicable by law and policy.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in municipal water engineering (Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Water Resources).
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of project financials and funding programs.

    • Physical Qualifications

  • Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain; stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; occasionally lift / carry light to moderate weights (up to 20 pounds, up to 50 pounds rarely).
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify issues; may require PPE (including flame resistant clothing, hard hat, protective footwear).
  • May require occasional evenings / weekends with overtime; occasional travel to off-site locations including overnight stays.
