About The Position

Must-Have :

Level 1 Trauma experience

Natural hair color and no facial piercings

Clean shaven for fit test

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills

Description :

Unit with 48 total beds, including 10 specialty rooms for epilepsy.

Ratios are 1 : 4 for days and nights.

Charge Nurse available without patient assignment.

Nurse aides present, with 1-2 on days and 1 at night.

Self-scheduling available for weekends.

Work is required during holiday rotations.

Scrub color specified as Grey's Anatomy or Steel.

Common diagnoses include epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, TBI, and other neuro diagnoses.

Medical staff includes Hospitalist or Intensivist available in-house during the day.

Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy services available 24 / 7.

Floating to Med-Surg / Tele floors may be required.

Floor-specific orientation provided over 2 shifts.

Strong assessment skills are necessary to detect small changes in patients.

Utilization of self-releasing velcro seat belts instead of restraints is required.

Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance.

Clinical skills exams include Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, with a pass / fail outcome.

Educational-based training is provided for lifts, restraints, and wound care.

Candidates with uncertainty in competence for specified skills may not be a suitable fit.

Please note : the cancellation policy allows for the cancellation of up to 4 shifts during the assignment.

Charting system utilized is Cerner.
