Sr Mng Atty-Employment Law

POSITION OVERVIEW :

Lead a team of attorneys who provide guidance and counsel to the corporation and its leadership on employment-law related matters. Work with leadership to develop and implement specific action plans and leadership strategies to prevent and mitigate employment-law risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1.    Select, train, develop, and motivate a staff of professionals

2.    Provide legal counsel and advice to management at all levels, including executive leadership, regarding matters that impact employee relations or relate to employment law

3.    Review, analyze, and interpret proposed and current state and federal legislation, laws, and regulations to ensure compliance by the company

4.    Work with leadership in other organizations to reach resolution of employment-related issues, decisions, and / or disputes that advance the needs of the business while mitigating legal risk

5.    Coordinate with management personnel and hire outside counsel, as needed, to resolve employment law issues

6.    Assist in the employment law group’s oversight of internal investigations by the Investigations & Compliance team, Employee Relations, or other stakeholders and work closely with other legal and / or ER leadership for those investigative teams to ensure timely, thorough, defensible investigations

7.    Monitor litigation trends related to employment investigations and employment-related compliance issues; recommend changes in company policies and procedures accordingly

8.    Serve as the primary employment-law liaison for a geographic or functional business team, as assigned, delegating assignments and research to employment law attorneys as needed to ensure appropriate resolution of issues

9.    Promote a culture of ethics, compliance, and integrity in alignment with the company’s goals and business objectives

10.    Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school plus ten (10) or more years’ experience in employment law and demonstrated competence as an attorney in relevant area of law.
• Required license to practice law and admission to bar, either full or in-house.

Minimum five (5) years of experience as an attorney in the area of employment law, and in-depth knowledge of employment laws.
