Responsibilities
Summary :
The Intake / Release Officer performs all duties necessary to ensure incoming / outgoing inmates / detainees are processed in a timely manner.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Oversee and monitor the activities of the intake and release areas.Obtain transport roster of all inmates / detainees incoming to the facility.Complete all daily information forms necessary in processing inmates / detainees in / out of the facility.Update computer upon arrivals / departures of inmates / detainees.Update count board upon arrival / departure of inmates / detainees.Operate photo printer for inmates / detainees ID.Ensure all arriving inmates / detainees receive appropriate identification, including ID and wristband.Responsible for completion of inventory of property for incoming / outgoing inmates / detainees.Properly identifies each inmates / detainees scheduled to be released.Notify necessary departments (Medical, Inmate Trust Fund, Security) of pending incoming / outgoing inmates / detainees.May be required to perform the duties of an Officer by overseeing and maintaining the custody, care, and control of inmates / detainees.Performs other duties as assignedQualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Minimum of 19 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent certification required.College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred. Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred.Capability of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations.Able to interpret printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and must be able to compose reports.Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.Ability to work overtime as required.Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.Ability to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling 24-hour period.May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license.Must be mature, flexible, able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff, philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility, and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.GEO Secured Services
