Job Title : Jr. Accountant (Construction) – Procore + Sage 100 Contractor
Location : Miami, FL
Employment Type : Full-Time
Pay will be based on experience : $55-$70K range
AppleOne is working with a growing commercial general contractor seeking a sharp, detail-driven Jr. Accountant to support day-to-day accounting for its expanding construction portfolio. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment and enjoys working collaboratively with Project Managers, Subcontractors, and Vendors.
The Jr. Accountant will manage essential accounting functions across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Job Costing, using Procore Financials and Sage 100 Contractor. The ideal candidate is analytical, systems-savvy, and eager to build a long-term career in construction accounting.
Key Responsibilities :
Accounts Payable (AP)
Perform 3-way match (contract / PO / commitment, receipt, invoice) in Procore; resolve discrepancies with Project Managers.
Validate W-9s, 1099 status, Certificates of Insurance, and lien waiver requirements prior to payment.
Enter, code, and route vendor invoices; manage use / sales tax coding as applicable.
Prepare weekly check / ACH runs in Sage 100 Contractor; post payments and maintain vendor records.
Track retainage withheld / released and collect conditional / unconditional lien waivers.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Support Project Managers with project invoicing and backup documentation.
Post AR invoices in Sage 100 Contractor, monitor aging reports, and coordinate light collections.
Job Costing & Project Accounting
Maintain cost codes and cost types; assist with budget uploads, changes, and commitments.
Reconcile Procore job cost data to Sage 100 Contractor and resolve sync / export errors.
Update committed vs. actual cost reports and assist with cost-to-complete and accruals.
Support preparation of monthly WIP schedules, including percent complete and earned revenue.
General Ledger & Month-End Close
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reclasses under GAAP.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, intercompany accounts, and other key balance sheet items.
Maintain organized documentation to support audit and management review.
Compliance & Process Improvement
Enforce internal controls and maintain documentation accuracy.
Assist with 1099 year-end processing and tax filings as applicable.
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and improve accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Project Managers to validate cost coding and financial data.
Coordinate with Procurement and other departments to ensure financial alignment.
Communicate professionally with owners, subcontractors, and vendors.
Qualifications :
1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a construction or project-based environment.
Hands-on experience with Sage 100 Contractor (required) and Procore Financials (preferred).
Strong knowledge of GAAP and standard month-end close procedures.
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, SUMIFS) and PDF markup tools.
Familiarity with Florida lien law practices, AIA billing (G702 / G703), retainage, and WIP concepts.
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
