Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Worker

Performs moderately difficult work in the performance of snow removal, public works maintenance, and repair work of related services including streets, facilities, and equipment maintenance and operation. Also performs tasks within a team environment to provide city residents and users of the parks and trails system with properly maintained and aesthetically pleasing facilities and municipal sites.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

• Maintains park grounds through mowing, tree / shrub pruning, weed control, turf maintenance and landscaping.
• Performs skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance and repair work of parks, facilities, equipment maintenance and operations, as assigned.
• Supports special user groups and events by preparing the parks facilities.
• Ensures safety of all users through continual inspection of park property and amenities.
• Operation of small engine / light equipment in the maintenance of city parks, lands, and facilities as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with other divisions and departments.
• Seasonal work hours may vary, 7 a.m. to 3 : 00 p.m. is a typical day, with some weekend work required.
• While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees may be called upon to perform a variety of duties in their roles with the City of Savage.
