Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments across age groups utilizing both standardized evaluations and observational methods.
  • Create individualized treatment strategies tailored to enhancing communication, cognitive abilities, or addressing swallowing challenges.
  • Deliver targeted one-on-one therapy focused on language, voice, fluency, and swallowing interventions.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of occupational therapists, physical therapists, nursing staff, and doctors to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families, empowering them to support progress beyond the therapy room.
  • Participate in occasional evaluations and therapy sessions within inpatient settings to ensure ongoing care.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation in accordance with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Stay ahead with professional development through ongoing education and collaborative partnerships with peers.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not already ASHA certified.
  • Licenses / Certifications

  • Current state license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred : Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for all demographics, with an acute understanding of various speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Adept communication skills, fostering relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Flexibility in adapting therapeutic methods to accommodate cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Strong decision-making skills and analytical thought processes.
  • Proficient in navigating electronic health records and adhering to documentation guidelines.
